The trip …
What a rollercoaster ride since I arrived in Abuja, Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon last week - meeting with leaders from Kano and Josh on a new training initiative we will kick off in March 2024.
And then a 11 hours drive to Jalingo in the north east - the drive itself is a story on its own on the worst tarred road ever - we had pastor Joe as driver and mechanic (was needed a few times) and a soldier to wave us through the many check-points - and then there was even a river crossing (60 min) with the Ford F150 on a little wooden boat.
In Jalingo we had a meeting with the leaders of the Church or Christ in Nigeria (EKAN) to fix our commitment to help train all their pastors and evangelists. And we had an unplanned for us, but planned by God meeting and quick encouragement at the conference of Mission Light House (an indigenous missions movement). We have trained many of their missionaries the past few years in different towns. They will now be sending 2 representatives to next weeks training of facilitators and we will also incorporate them into our training with EKAN next year.
And then it was 11 hours back again with some car issues being sorted as we went along to be in time for Saturday’s wedding of a fellow brother we attended in Abuja. Madness to some, but it was worth it to see some leaders for the first time face to face - before it was only on Zoom. Something just happens when we meet each other in this way.
Pray with us for this week’s training and evaluation and encouragement meetings with facilitators. We need lot’s of wisdom and creativity!
