East & South East Nigeria - February 2025

Thank you to all who stood with us during the February training in Nigeria. It was a tough 2 weeks on many levels, but we learned a lot about ourselves, others and our calling, but above all about God. Both of the trainings without our planning focused a lot on grace/faith and works/law and how they fit together. I think the Church struggles to find a biblical balance - it is either all about grace or all about works. But the Book of James always helps me - he emphasizes that if we truly received the free gift of salvation (grace), our lives will show it through our good works and words - James 2:14-26.

And now we are back in Nigeria (in the far north) for a 3rd training with a group of leaders from many different churches and denominations.

During the second week we will spend time to finalise the Kingdom of God’s translation into Hausa (most widely language spoken in West Africa - about 75 million people). Hopefully we can then start with the next translation in Hausa.

Pray with us:

- Open hearts and minds when we look at how to understand and apply the stories (narrative material) of especially the Old Testament

- Local facilitators in Nigeria and Benin to continue training their own and other leaders - may they find more opportunities to serve. Some will be traveling from Nigeria to Ghana next week to train.

- Focus to finalise the first Hausa translation and also for the other translations we are busy with (Yoruba, French, Afrikaans, Luganda)

- For the next few months planning - some trainings are still uncertain
