Being transformed …

What does it practically mean that Christ came to reconcile us in our relationship to God, self, others, and the rest of creation? What does it mean to be made in the image of God?

These were the foundational questions and the practical application of the answers to them that we “wrestled” with this past week outside Blantyre, Malawi

When we live and work on a continent awash with poverty, divisions, corruption, etc - what does it mean to serve in the Kingdom in a way that heals and gives people dignity as God’s image bearers? Do we as NGO’s and churches help to bring real Biblical transformation in the communities and people we serve, or do we actually work against it with our well meant programs and gifts?

Not easy to answer, but we must keep on struggling with these questions and their practical implications - that is our calling as the People of God

And the Transformational Development course of TWT helps tremendously in this process. I was again amazed of what could be done in communities, and how people turn to Christ as their Lord and Saviour through this journey of change.

Pray with us as we seek the Lord’s wisdom on how to implement and complement our current training with the Transformational Development (TD) content and principles. (TWT Malawi already does it, but we also want use it more in West Africa and other areas where we serve.)

PS TD principles helped us personally as a family in the past when we went through a difficult time. We applied it practically with regards to God’s provision for us. We had to ask: what has He given us now in this specific context and time, and how can we use it to help sustain and provide for our needs?

Participant from Blantyre, Malawi

Missionary from Haiti (they had to flee from there a while ago and is praying about going back. You would have seen in the news that 3 missionaries were killed in Haiti this past week. Please pray for Haiti and its people.)

The next few videos are a bit longer, but try at least to listen to the first one - they really help us to understand not just the situation in Malawi, but also in the rest of Africa and that there are solutions (of which the principles we find in Scripture) to one of the biggest challenges … poverty.
